The Faroe Islands have dropped seven places on the Paris MoU White List and are now ranked 37th out of 40 countries.
The list is published annually, and in the previous ranking the Faroe Islands were placed 30th.
The ranking is based on the number of detentions during port State control inspections over the past three years. Faroese vessels have been detained eight times in 225 inspections during the last three years (2023, 2024 and 2025).
It is important to reverse this trend and ensure that the Faroe Islands continue to maintain their position on the White List. The Faroese Maritime Authority has therefore increased the number of flag State inspections and expects shipowners to implement the necessary measures to reduce the number of deficiencies and prevent detentions.
