The Faroe Islands subscribes to all relevant international codes and conventions promulgated by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and the International Labour Organization (ILO). The codes and conventions are implemented into Faroese legislation in their original wording.
In general only few specific national requirements apply – please contact FMA for further information. FMA can on case by case make exemption to the national requirements.
Unified IMO and IACS interpretations are used by FMA, as long as they are not in conflict with the national requirements or specific FMA interpretations.
